Bouquets and Zebres

Foundation knowledge of the Jersey Breed must include Seers Bouquet – three times Supreme Champion over Jersey in the early 1960s.
Bred by the Pallot family, her descendants were entrusted to us by John Pallot on his retirement from milking.   Traditionally the families were blended with the occasional outcross (usually from the Le Ruez farms), with the Zebres providing the next sires.  The last pure Zebre/Bouquet bull of note was Zebre Design Fillpailer who sired many long-lived highly productive show cows.  One of the last Zebres born on Jersey was Sams Victorious Zebre whose five trips to the showring achieved three firsts, two seconds, Reserve Champion and Breed Champion at the Bath & West in 1997.

Whilst some of the branches of the family did not survive under modern commercial conditions there is a strong nucleus redeveloping in the herd from animals such as

With individuals such as Barnowl PLJ Milly Bouquet Ex93(2),
Barnowl Simon Louise Bouquet VG89 GM MM and Barnowl Excitation Bouquet 4 claiming firsts and championships in the show ring the longevity of these families is giving a strong base on which to improve their butterfat constituents.
